Legion of Honor, Perfect Attendance awards presented by Kerry
Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:51PMImmediate Past President Kerry Fetherston, on Thursday, completed the presentation of awards from her year. Challenges of getting pins, tags and certificates from the Kiwanis International office had prevented giving them out at the 60th annual Awards and Induction event in late September. Thanks to Secretary Shana Ellis and Treasurer Linda Spears for handling the process.
Six KCOT members with at least 25 years of membership received "Legion of Honor" certificates, which are given for every 5-year milestone of Kiwanis membership: "…This member is accorded distinctive recognition and has the admiration and gratitude of this club, the district and Kiwanis International." Honored were Lawn Griffiths, 25 years; Neil Giuliano, 30 years; Jerry Vaughn, 45 years; Richard Neuheisel, 45 years; Ralph Lingerfelt, 50 years; and Ralph Packer, 50 years. Only Jim Harelson (charter member –February 1952) and Jim Yount (Oct. 1952) have been members longer than the two Ralphs.
Kerry also presented the Tag Awards for Perfect Attendance for the year ending in September: Neil Fisch, 1 year; Lance Gray, 1 year; Dennis Ederer, 1 year; Penny Pease, 1 year; Ralph Packer, 2 years; Mike Jennings, 2 years; Ralph Lingerfelt, 3 years; Mark Richwine, 4 years; Mike Cryer, 5 years; Kerry Fetherston, 5 years; Chris Rosner, 6 years; Judy Aldrich, 11 years; Shana Ellis, 14 years; Linda Spears, 21 years; and Lawn Griffiths, 25 years. Members are credited for perfect attendance if the total of their attendance at Thursday meetings, Interclubs, official Club projects and attendance at other K-Family official meetings combine to be the equivalent of attending all the regular meetings of the year or about 50.
Kerry also gave pins for her officers the past year: Kathy Stevens, president-elect; Lance Gray, vice president; Mike Jennings, vice president; Linda Spears, treasurer; Shana Ellis, secretary; and Kerry Fetherston, president.
